Runes of Magic
Poster: ajira Tue Jul 20th, 2010 17:11:19

It's been quiet for a long, long time; and I'll explain why. The Runes of Magic adventure didn't work out as planned. Personally I think it's because of the way those free MMORPG's work.

What it boils down to is that you either have to spend a shitload of hard cash on it, or you have to be a single, unemployed, brain-dead zombie that can grind 24/7. Without either of those, you simply cannot go endgame in free MMORPG's. And that simply isn't how Infuse works. We like to play games, not buy our way to the higher levels.

We had a good group of people going (40-something), but somehow it didn't work out. Personally I think that this also was related to the nature of the game. I'm a person that values player loyalty highly, and with paid MMORPG's that is a common thing. When we played World of Warcraft, the guild was very loyal and even when things got bad on a couple of occasions, nobody even considered leaving.

With Runes of Magic, the guild loyalty was very low. People left without second thoughts if another guild offered them more loot. And this is what caused the guild to bleed dry in Runes of Magic. One side of me is sad that the Runes of Magic adventure has ended, but another side of me (mostly my wallet) is kind of glad it's over.

Hoppa.. house-warming party next weekend; bring your own keg ;)

The everlasting grind continues undebated. We need a crapload of ores, herbs, woods and guild runes to construct some bonus buildings for the castle. The way all the members have been contributing over the last days, I'm sure we'll have some cool stuff up in no time.

Yep.. you guessed it! Due to remarkable effort from many guild members we managed to get a whole level done in less than a day! ;)

Special thanks to Shaunac for dumping a truckload  of ores and herbs into the guildbank. Only one more level before we can work on our guild castle :D
